  • free to a good home...

I really should clean up more often:  This year I've made it a priority to get rid of some of the clutter around the house and while I was shoveling through the garage, I found the parts to put this together.  It's old and slow (like the Oakridge Blue Softball team).  It's running Windows95 so it's fairly easy to use, but it won't work with any of the latest game software, (actually, pretty much anything since the turn of the century).  It has a modem (for dial-up) and a network card (for a DSL or Cable connection). I'll check the rest of the specs tonight and post an update tomorrow.  I can think of several ways it could be put to work:

    • would be great as a PC for someone who just checks email and surfs the net, like a grandparent who just wants to get news and pictures from the family
    • could work as a PC left on all the time with a printer attached for someone's home network
    • with the right software (about $30) would make a nifty answering machine as well as a "print server"
    • could be setup as a "webcam" PC
    • could just be a "backup" for someone who has a less than reliable PC already.  I know from experience that this machine will sit for years in a garage and boot up without complaining

It does come with what you see in the picture - monitor, mouse(it's not permanently left-handed!) and keyboard.  I'll even throw in a reasonable amount of tech support to new home. Oh and shipping is........non-existent!  I'll drop it off if it's on my way somewhere, that's about it.

  • yes, those are cobwebs

    Cobweb

It's been awhile (and then some) but I'm getting back into things after the Brazil trip and a vacation with the Bucks oh, and an extra month to be lazy .

So to tie up one HUGE loose end - FINAL JEOPARY!!

The correct answer is "C.S. Lewis"...and I intentionally made it something a bit more difficult than a simple online search....apparently I was a little too tricky because none of the contestants got the correct response...the final results based on the wagers are:

    • Lisa = 5599
    • Mindy = 0
    • Heather = 0
    • Bryon = 0

So Lisa is the winner...wouldn't it be funny if the prize was an all expenses paid tour of Whirlpool's Tech Center? (it's not)

Congratulations, Lisa - expect your prize to be delivered at the next ThBS!

this blog needs a serious makeover...and that's in the works, unfortunately it's the same slow-motion works that ran the Jeopary game. The management at that place is awful...and the creative team is apparently on strike.  So I'm not making any promises just yet.
